Here’s a unique opportunity to study the “History Of the Jazz Guitar” from master guitarist Jack Wilkins. For years this class was given only at Manhattan School of Music. Jack will now be giving an 8-week course (two hours a week) of the most influential guitarists of the 20th century. Classes will be no more than eight participants. The class will cover such giants of jazz guitar such as Lonnie Johnson, Eddie Lang, George Van Eps, Charlie Christian, Django Reinhardt, Barney Kessel, Tal Farlow, Jimmy Raney, Chuck Wayne, Johnny Smith, Joe Pass, Billy Bean, George Barnes, Rene Thomas, Wes Montgomery, Hank Garland, Howard Roberts and many others. Recordings, transcriptions, demonstrations, and videos will show how these players were able to execute such amazing phrases and chordal work on the guitar. There will be an occasional surprise guest as well.The class will be held in the evening. Thursday evening from 6pm till 8pm. Thursday evening class will begin on September 7th (after Labor Day) through October 26th. To enroll, call or Email.
