Richie Hart “Greasey Street”
Zoho Records zm-2005-11
I have to say that I really like this CD. There are some great songs and playing. The artists are all friends of mine so can I be objective? I think so. Joe Corsello (drummer) was on my first recording with Barry Miles. (1968) I’ve played with Rick Petrone many times and know Richie Hart. I also recorded with Dr. Lonnie Smith on a Bubba Brooks CD called “Polka Dots and Moonbeams”. I enjoy the spirit that they generate. There are some amusing 1970’s effects that I still like somehow. I think my favorite song here is “Frim Fram Sauce” made famous by Nat “King” Cole in the 40’s. The band is augmented by Gerry Neiwood on reeds, Clifton Anderson on trombone, Pete Levin, keyboards, and Jerry Weldon on sax.
This is a well produced CD with great sound a great humor as well.
(The front cover is hysterically funny as Joe, Richie and Rick look so menacing that I thought if the review was not good, they’d show up at my door! )
